  • Always purchase products that are properly labelled.

  • Enquire if a local pre-package establishment is registered (with the Bureau of Standards Jamaica) before purchasing products manufactured at said establishment.

  • Enquire if an establishment that manufactures block is registered (with the Bureau of Standards Jamaica) before purchasing that commodity.

  • Check that the “amber orange” sticker on the weighing and measuring device (with the word “PASS”) is valid.

  • If you are importing products into Jamaica, ensure that the products meet local requirements.

  • If you are exporting, research the requirements of the country to which you are exporting to.
